Several thousand farmers in Poland faced a ban on the use of their Belarus tractors manufactured after 2016, since the equipment does not have sensors according to the EU emission standards.
The Supreme Administrative Court of Poland rejected the cassation filed by the MTZ dealer in the Polish city of Walce. This means that the vehicles were registered in violation of existing regulations.
As a result, Polish farmers who purchased Belarus tractors after 2016 faced the threat of losing these vehicles. According to the Weekly Agricultural Handbook, the problem is related to the lack of European approval for emission standards required in the EU. Despite this, the tractors were registered by the district administrations, which may now lead to the need to decommission the machines.
The Warmian-Masurian Agrarian Chamber appealed to the Minister of Infrastructure of Poland, Darius Klimczak, with a request to recognize the existing registration documents. The head of the National Council of Agrarian Chambers of Poland, Viktor Shmulevich, believes that farmers should not be held responsible for the mistakes of officials who approved the registration of these machines.
