Presidents of Kazakhstan and Finland Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Alexander Stubb have worked out a coordinated position on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
This follows from the joint statement of the parties on the website of the press service of the Kazakh president. The general approach to Ukraine was announced following the meeting of the two leaders in Astana.
"The parties stressed the importance of achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace on the Ukraine in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations," the final document says.
It also emphasizes the importance of resolving disputes and conflicts by peaceful, political and diplomatic means. The parties also noted their commitment to respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all States.
In addition, Tokayev and Stubb reaffirmed their "firm commitment to further strengthening and diversifying the Kazakh-Finnish partnership."
The Finnish president is on an official visit to Astana at the invitation of Tokayev on October 28-29. Following the meeting, Kazakhstan and Finland signed 15 documents. Among them is a memorandum of cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
As reported by EADaily, earlier Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that Astana shares the policy of the US administration and President Donald Trump, aimed at striving for peace and based on the principles of common sense.
