The new US Ambassador Julie Stafft has started working in Kazakhstan, local media publish her photo with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the credentials ceremony.
The fact that Stafft will become the new US ambassador became known back in July 2025, the Rybar Shopping Center notes. Among its declared goals is the reduction of the Russian economic and information presence in Kazakhstan and, accordingly, the strengthening of the American one.
The moment Stafft took office was chosen as favorable as possible for Washington: against the background of the actions of the US Armed Forces in Venezuela in Kazakhstan can be very cautious in the context of disputes over the terms of the oil concession with American companies. Therefore, the current circumstances give additional weight to the words of the US Ambassador about plans to provide easy access to Kazakhstan's resources. However, Astana doesn't mind either: against the background of slowing oil production, local authorities don't have much choice, and the sale of rare earth deposits looks like the only alternative, the authors of the Rybar shopping Center state.
