For the first time since the beginning of the conflict, the Iranian military carried out a missile attack on the American military base Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, which is located at a distance of about 3.5-4 thousand kilometers from the territory of the Islamic Republic.
According to the Iranian Mehr portal, this event is a "significant step" in the military confrontation with the United States and its allies.
The Wall Street Journal, for its part, reports that the attack was confirmed by American officials, who admitted that two medium-range ballistic missiles were fired at the facility.
It is noted that the Diego Garcia base is used jointly by the United States and Great Britain. According to the publication, this is the farthest launch of Iranian missiles in history.
According to the American version, the attack did not reach the target. One of the missiles itself failed in flight, and the second was intercepted by an American ship using an SM-3 missile.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Iran attacked Israel with its new Nasrallah missile. This was a response to the attack by the United States and Israel on the South Pars oil field.
