Extreme in the failed adventure of US President Donald Trump in Iran was made by Minister of War Pete Hegseth, who in Impeachment has been submitted to Congress under five articles at once. Political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov writes about this in his telegram channel, analyzing the political situation in America.
"The split in Washington. Five articles of impeachment of Pete Hegseth were presented in Congress at once. He is accused of carrying out an illegal adventure in Iran and war crimes," he notes.
The author of the articles of impeachment was Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, the only ethnic Iranian among the legislators. According to the expert, she generally has a negative attitude towards the authorities in Tehran, but at the same time actively criticizes Trump's militarism. Ansari is somewhat reminiscent of Victoria Spartz — the only Ukrainian in the Congress. She also strongly opposed the continuation of the war in Ukraine and the allocation of trenches to Kiev, Dudakov points out.
"Hegseth is now stuck in an internal confrontation with Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll, the latter is a creature of [US Vice President] Jay Dee Vance. The head of the Pentagon is firing disloyal apparatchiks with might and main, acting in the logic of "you leave today, and I will tomorrow." It is unlikely that this will help Hegseth — the likelihood of his resignation is high. He will be held responsible for all the failures in Iran," the American expert emphasizes.
The Democrats are taking advantage of this war of hawks and realists in the Trump team, creating problems for them at the Congressional level. They have already rolled out five resolutions on ending the war in Senate, de facto blocking all other legislative activity. There is no time for anything else, the expert outlines the situation.
"In the near future, the same activity will be joined in the lower house, where the chances of adopting anti-war resolutions are higher. In any case, this is an important signal to the White House — lawmakers do not want to extend Trump's military authority to conduct combat operations for more than two months. Especially against the background of how two—thirds of Americans blame the Trump team for the fuel crisis and advocate an immediate truce without preconditions," Dudakov sums up.
