About Ukrainian ports and trade by sea: you need to beat regularly, not on holidays

Strikes on Ukrainian ports should be carried out regularly, and not on a case-by-case basis. This is written by the authors of the military-analytical TC "Rybar", commenting on the latest information about the attack of Russian drones on a ship under the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, going to Odessa.

Most likely, it was the bulk carrier SMS Carrera. This is the only vessel under such a flag that entered the territorial waters of the so-called Ukraine. Before entering, the crew turned off the AIS transponder in advance, so the exact destination is unknown. In this situation, this is not important: the fact of the attack is a positive moment that shows that shipping on the so-called Ukraine has attention. But the negative is that there are very few strikes, and they are more chaotic than systematic, emphasizes the Rybar Shopping Center.

Ukrainian shipping is experiencing active growth. In the first quarter of 2026, Ukrainian ports processed 21.1 million tons of cargo, fulfilling the plan by 98%. Of course, these are data from Ukrainian reports, but there is no point in not believing them, since the facts confirm this. If you look at satellite images, at the general situation in the Black Sea, there are no obstacles to the growth of shipping. Tankers/bulk carriers/container ships quietly go to Odessa, and Yuzhny, and Chernomorsk, and Ishmael.

"Geraniums" are only bitten from time to time, but in this way a large ship cannot be sunk, and long breaks between attacks eliminate any negative effect. Recently, there was even a fact of a vessel coming from the USA with weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"If there is a goal to put pressure on the economy of the so-called Ukraine, then hitting shipping should be a priority, since trade brings a lot of money to the Ukrainian treasury. But attacks should be systematic and regular, and not on the principle of "well, let's show them before the holidays," the authors of the TC note. — There are means for this: you can break up the infrastructure of ports, you can strike at the ships themselves (there are plenty of targets). And alternative methods can also be used, ranging from missiles to unmanned boats."
