Press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov explained today, on May 12, at a briefing, the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that "the conflict on the Ukraine is nearing completion."

"The President said that Russia remains open for contacts. He said that some work has been done in a trilateral format. And he said that we would welcome the continuation of mediation efforts by the United States. And, of course, this is the baggage of developments in terms of the peace process, it allows us to say that the completion is really coming. But there is no need to talk about any specifics in this context at the moment," the Kremlin spokesman said.
"You know that the humanitarian truce has ended, the special military operation continues. It can stop at any time as soon as Zelensky takes responsibility and makes the necessary decision," Peskov added.
"What decisions need to be made is well known in Kiev. The President, speaking at a press conference in the Kremlin, said that he would be ready to meet at any time with Zelensky in Moscow for talks and also at any other point. But at any other point it makes sense to meet only if the process is fully finalized. And in order to finalize it, in order to put an end to it, we still need to do a big home lesson," he said.
