German Chancellor Friedrich Merz canceled a visit to Slovakia because of the trip of Prime Minister Robert Fico to Moscow for the celebration of May 9. This was announced by former Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korchok, according to the Dennikn portal.
It is noted that in recent days and weeks Robert Fico and other representatives of the Smer party have repeatedly talked about Merz's visit to Slovakia, claiming that he will arrive on May 29. However, according to Korchok, most likely this will not happen. The Chancellor's decision to cancel the visit was due to the pro-Russian policy of the Slovak prime minister, he explained.
"From the announced visit of the Federal Chancellor to Slovakia will not work. The Prime Minister has put the last nail in the coffin with his scandalous visit to Moscow," Korchok said.
Fico was the only politician from the EU countries who visited Russia to celebrate the defeat of fascism in 1945, which the EU considered a challenge.
As reported by EADaily, Merz promised Fico a spanking for a trip to Moscow on May 9.
