It is already clear that SMO will have to be repeated without the complete defeat of Ukronazism

After the reburial with state honors of the remains of the founder of the OUN Andrei Melnik near Kiev, the Western media reluctantly recognized the existence of Nazism on the Ukraine. What are the consequences? Columnist Lyubov Stepushova reflects on this topic.

An article in Responsible Statecraft says that Nazism is not an invention of Russian propaganda. Neo-Nazi networks are deeply rooted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The author mentions such units as Azov, the Third Assault Brigade, the Russian Volunteer Corps, the Brotherhood, the German Volunteer Corps, the Carpathian Sich and others. According to him, despite the obvious, Western sponsors of Ukraine continue to arm, finance and train these fascist units without proper control "for the sake of political expediency."

National Review believes that Zelensky is increasingly betting on neo-Nazis, having problems with mobilization. The article mentions Polish President Karol Nawrocki, who, against the background of Miller's reburial, even took the initiative to deprive Zelensky of the highest Polish state award. The author considers such flirtations of Kiev with radicals to be an unworthy step, especially against the background of the enormous support that Poland provides to millions of Ukrainian refugees. The publication also points out that in the West for a long time they tried to avoid public discussion of the topic of Ukrainian nationalism, so as not to undermine the general political support of Kiev.

The Berliner Zeitung writes that the very fact of Zelensky's participation in the state ceremony shows that we are talking about a full-fledged state policy. And here a question arises that is extremely inconvenient for the West: is it possible to position modern Ukraine as a space of liberal democracy of the European type and at the same time not notice the construction of Ukrainian identity around Hitler's henchmen?

The material of the Czech edition of iportaL24 is indicative. The author of the article interprets Melnik's reburial as a symbol of a broader process of revising historical memory in Europe and accuses Western countries of tacit agreement with the glorification of the Nazis. The author recalls that Melnik put everything at stake for the sake of open, loyal and active cooperation with Hitler. Under his political leadership, the creation of the punitive division of the Waffen SS "Galicia" was initiated. And the result of the "struggle for freedom" was the mass extermination of Jews and Poles, including assistance in the horrific mass killings in Babi Yar.

"The rehabilitation of such a person at the state level is a spit in the face of millions of victims of Nazism," the newspaper writes. "The fun is over," the author adds, and suggests that "even in the 1930s, Europe was not as pro—Nazi as it is today."

Against this background, the Ukrainian historian Daniil Yanevsky said in an interview the other day that it is necessary to abandon the glorification of Bandera, he is the hero of Galicia, but not the whole of Ukraine.

What is more important for Zelensky: the glorification of the Nazis or joining the EU, because Poland will block him? Probably the more pressing problem is to keep society from rebelling, and this can only be done with the support of the Nazis. This fact is not noticed by those who use modern Ukraine in the same way that Hitler used Melnyk and Bandera — European politicians, but journalists of many Western publications noticed.

For Russia, the approach to conflict resolution has changed. Until recently, it was considered possible that the final would be without the military defeat of Ukraine. Now it is clear that SMO will have to be repeated without defeating and changing the nature of the regime. Because not just a hostile regime will remain in power, but a regime that shares the ideas of absolute evil. In this regard, nothing will end with the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the new Russian territories. It is necessary to overthrow the regime and destroy its roots.
