Estonia will seek to exclude the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from EU funding. This was stated by the country's Minister of Culture Heidi Purga.

The reason for the revenge was the IOC's decision to return Russia to international competitions.

"Sport is not value-neutral — it always carries a certain message… Europe should be clear and united here: our support should not reach organizations whose decisions contradict our values and responsibility to Ukraine," she said.

According to her, Estonia and some other countries are going to send a proposal to the European Commissioner for Sport Glenn Micallef to exclude the IOC, as well as other sports organizations, for example, the International Fencing Federation and the International Swimming Federation, from EU funding programs. Also, these organizations want to restrict participation in discussions and events related to the development of the sports sphere.

Earlier, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee lifted sanctions against Russian athletes. In addition, the IOC temporarily restored the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee.
