The Supreme Court of Lithuania (VSL) upheld the ruling of the lower court against Povilas Grazhevicius, who called the women "garbage from Russia". This is reported by local media.

It is reported that the court overturned the decision in which Grazhevicius was found guilty of inciting discord on national, racial, ethnic grounds, according to which he had to pay a fine of 3,000 euros and compensate the material and moral damage caused to the victims, as well as pay court costs. The panel of judges noted that what was said could be considered a violation of the law, but it is not a humiliation of a group of people, therefore it is not subject to criminal prosecution.

The decision of the AFL is not subject to appeal.

Let us remind you that back in April 2023, in a Vilnius cafe, Grazhevicius attacked women for speaking Russian. According to one of the victims, the man pushed a chair and said that "garbage from Russia is not needed here." The police have launched an investigation into the violence and incitement of discord. The Vilnius district court acquitted Grazhevicius, and the Vilnius District Court found him guilty of inciting ethnic hatred (Part 2, 170 of art. UK LR). He was fined 3,000 euros. In addition, he must compensate the victim for material and moral damage — 4752 euros.
