Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga tried to kidnap and kill Kiev's ambassador to Cyprus, Sergei Nezhinsky. This was stated by Nezhinsky himself at a meeting of the temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada.

His video statement was published in his telegram channel by Verkhovna Rada deputy and head of the commission Alexey Goncharenko.

The former Ambassador of Ukraine to Cyprus said that he fears for his life, blaming the head of the now acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Sibiga.

"According to Nezhinsky, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Karasevich, demanded that a citizen of Cyprus, Ellinas Christodoulos, be appointed Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Cyprus. The former diplomat claims that he refused to comply with this requirement, after which he faced threats against his family and turned to law enforcement agencies," the newspaper writes "Время.иа ".

Nezhinsky told the Rada deputies that after he applied to the NACP through the Foreign Ministry, his wife began to receive threats. Then Nezhinsky turned to the police. He also tried to contact Sibiga, but to no avail. During the conversation with Karasevich, he realized that threats against him and pressure on him were carried out on the personal instructions of Sibiga.

After the completion of the diplomatic mission, the intelligence services of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Poland and Italy warned Nezhinsky that on Ukraine is preparing to kidnap him during his return to the country, which is why he was forced to change his route.

"I will consider: if something happens to me - and I am writing this down on my last working day — then the blood for my liquidation will be on the hands of Mr. Sibiga… I want to remind and tell the entire leadership of the Foreign Ministry: let me be the first and the last, but the whole country will find out about the corruption that now exists in the Foreign Ministry, about all the schemes and all the names," Nezhinsky added.

At the time of publication, there was no official reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to Nezhinsky's statements, the newspaper notes.

As the new Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky reported on social networks today, the government, in coordination with Volodymyr Zelensky, appointed Andriy Sibiga acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.

As reported by EADaily, former Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga will again head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, though in the status of acting deputy minister. This was reported on the eve of the publication "Strana" with reference to a source affiliated with the Bank.
