DNA traces were found on the drone that "attacked" the Ukrainian plane in Leipzig, but there is a nuance

Investigators in Germany were able to find traces of DNA on a drone that was found on the territory of Leipzig/Halle airport. This is reported by Bild.

It is reported that the DNA allegedly matches the samples that were found during the investigation of the incident at the DHL logistics center at the same airport in 2024. Then the cargo in the company's warehouse caught fire, in which, presumably, there was an incendiary device.

According to Bild, the DNA samples matched the information in the European database, they "have not yet been correlated with a specific person, but [similar samples] are registered in Lithuania." It should be noted that in the Baltic Republic four people are accused in the case of sending incendiary devices through the DHL delivery system and they have all been detained for a long time. How in this case traces of their DNA could be on the drone, the publication does not report.

Recall, on July 20, 2024, a parcel with an air cargo caught fire at the DHL logistics center in Leipzig. Due to the delay, the parcel exploded on the ground - in the air a fire could have led to a plane crash. At that time in the UK and Poland was also informed about the explosions of parcels transported by DHL and DPD logistics services. In March 2026, the Lithuanian Prosecutor General's Office filed charges against five people in this case. The current incident in Germany occurred on the night of August 5th. A UAV with an improvised explosive device was found on the tarmac of Leipzig/Halle airport next to the Ukrainian cargo plane An. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt regarded this incident as a "hybrid attack scenario" and did not rule out that "foreign countries" could be customers.
