The United States’ attitude towards the celebrations of the 70th year of the victory in the Great Patriotic War is deeply immoral, Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of Russia’s State Duma Alexey Pushkov said on Twitter. “We lost as many as 27mln lives in our war against Hitler and no Obama can blot this out,” Pushkov said.
Concerning the last statement by US Ambassador to Russia John Tefft that Obama hopes for better relations with Russia, Pushkov said: “Does he? In reality we see nothing but damage from the US.”
Pushkov believes that the attempts to rewrite the history of WWII come from one capital. “Moscow and Beijing will oppose them,” he said.
As EADaily reported earlier, during the Nay 9 celebrations in Moscow, the US will be represented by Tefft.
According to him, when passing this decision, the US and Europe kept in mind Russia’s continuing attempts to violate Ukraine’s sovereignty. Recently Tefft said that even though US President Barack Obama would not visit Moscow on May 9, he expected that relations with Russia would improve after the source of current tensions between the two countries was eliminated.
