The Ministry of Energy and Transport of Abkhazia commented on the information about the claim of Aero Management JSC for reimbursement of expenses for the preparation of project documentation for the reconstruction of the airport in Sukhum.
"The Ministry of Energy and Transport of the Republic of Abkhazia draws attention to the fact that a claim is being spread on social networks Aero Management JSC (a potential investor who has not passed the competitive selection for the implementation of the Sukhum Airport reconstruction project named after V.G. Ardzinba) to reimburse expenses for the preparation of project documentation. In this regard, we inform you that on October 27, 2023, between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Armenia and LLC "Infrastructure Development" (an investor who has passed a competitive selection for the implementation of an investment project) a public-private partnership agreement was concluded on the restoration of the property complex of the Sukhum International Airport named after V.G. Ardzinba, under which the private partner (LLC "Infrastructure development“) assumed obligations to reimburse the incurred Aero Management JSC is responsible for the development of project documentation," the ministry said.
Thus, the authorities of Abkhazia emphasize that the compensation of design costs is carried out by the investor — LLC "Infrastructure Development".
The Ministry of Transport and Energy clarifies that "at the moment with a private partner (LLC "Infrastructure development“) discusses the timing and procedure for compensation of expenses incurred Aero Management JSC".
As EADaily reported, it is planned to restore the airport in the capital of Abkhazia by early December 2024.
The Government of Abkhazia and the organization "Infrastructure Development" signed an Agreement on the reconstruction of Sukhumi airport on October 27, 2023. The document provides for the restoration of the Sukhum airport property complex, which has not been operating since 1993, to resume air traffic.
"Infrastructure Development" was a competition organized by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and the Ministry of Economy of Abkhazia. The owner of Infrastructure Development LLC is Rashid Nurgaliyev. Rashid Rashidovich Nurgaliev is the son of the First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
