At the request of Kiev, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will convene a meeting of the Ukraine—NATO Council on Wednesday. It is reported by Reuters with reference to a representative of the organization.
"The meeting will be held at the level of ambassadors. It is expected that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov will inform the allies via video link about the situation on the battlefield and the priority needs in the potential," said the press secretary of the alliance Farah Dahlalla.
According to her, tomorrow's meeting will take place after the recent powerful Russian strikes on the Ukrainian infrastructure. NATO countries have provided substantial support to Ukraine's air defense and are committed to further strengthening Ukraine's defense, she added.
The Ukraine—NATO Council was established last year to ensure closer coordination between the alliance and Kiev. Ambassadors of the bloc's member countries and Ukrainian officials are usually present at council meetings, the agency notes.
