The Pentagon commented on the successes of Russian troops near Krasnoarmeysk in the DPR

The Russian army is advancing in the area of the city of Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name — Pokrovsk) in the DPR, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said at a briefing.

So he answered the question about the Pentagon's assessment of the possibility of Russian troops to take control of the city.

"You know, we are closely monitoring this. You can see that the Russians are making gradual progress there. And, as you know, heavy fighting is taking place in this border area," he said.

According to Ryder, Washington will continue consultations with Kiev to understand Ukraine's need for military assistance.
