The head of the CDU/CSU faction in the Bundestag, openly gay Jens Spahn, resigned due to the birth of a child. This is reported by Der Spiegel.
Shpan explained the decision to leave the post by the fact that the creation of a family turned out to be incompatible with his political position, the magazine writes.
The politician leaves amid a scandal caused by the fact that he and his spouse became parents with the help of a surrogate mother from the United States. After the publication of the information, several regional CDU organizations demanded the resignation of the Punks, saying that his act contradicts the position of the party and undermines its credibility. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called on the Punks to leave the post.
The fact is that surrogacy is prohibited in Germany, and the CDU in February reaffirmed its position on this issue. And the Punks themselves used to speak out against surrogate motherhood.
As reported by EADaily, the chairman of the ruling CDU/CSU faction in the Bundestag, Jens Spahn, and his husband Daniel Funke announced that their son Georg was born. The child was born in the USA, where he was carried out and given birth by a surrogate mother, the telegram channel "What's up with the Germans" reported.
