Ukraine is more focused on the opportunities that the invasion of the Kursk region gives it, rather than on holding Russian territory for exchange for Russian-occupied territories. This was stated in an interview with CNN by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
"We are focused on increasing our ability to resist, to throw the Russians out of the temporarily occupied territories," Umerov said.
The commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, said the day before that over the past day, Ukrainian troops had advanced two kilometers deep into the Kursk region.
"Over the [past] day, our troops have advanced 2 kilometers in some areas, taking control of 5 square kilometers of territory," Syrsky reported at a Stavka meeting.
However, as Kiev reports progress in the Kursk region, Russian troops are conquering territory in eastern Ukraine, moving towards Pokrovsk is a strategic city located on a key supply route between military hubs. Pokrovsk is the basis of the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this area, the TV channel notes.
Meanwhile, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, said that he intends to present a "victory plan" to US President Joe Biden in September, as well as presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
As reported by EADaily, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov at meetings with high-ranking US officials in Washington on Friday presented a list of targets in Russia. He stated this in an interview with CNN.
According to Umerov, the Joe Biden administration is still considering Kiev's request to lift restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons to strike deep into Russian territory.
"We have explained what opportunities we need... so I hope that we have been heard," Umerov said.
