The Russian Armed Forces destroyed or captured a number of Ukrainian positions near the strategically important city of Pokrovsk. It is reported by The Guardian with reference to the Ukrainian military.
"As a result of protracted clashes, two of our positions were destroyed, one was lost," Nazar Voloshin, spokesman for the Eastern Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said on the telethon.
The newspaper notes that the Russian army on December 11 was at a distance of only 3 km from the southern outskirts of Pokrovsk, according to the Ukrainian military public Deep State.
Meanwhile, the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, said that he had visited the Marine Corps unit in the Pokrovsky direction and noted that Ukrainian servicemen were facing "a superior enemy, primarily in manpower." According to him, it is necessary to make non-standard decisions in order to increase the stability of the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The battles are extremely fierce. The Russians are throwing all available forces forward, trying to break through the defenses of our troops," complained Syrsky.
