Zakharova was outraged by the comparison of the Italian president of Russia with Nazi Germany

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called offensive, outrageous and frankly false "blasphemous fabrications" and analogies cited by Italian President Sergio Mattarella, comparing Russia's actions in the Ukrainian conflict with the project of the Third Reich in Europe.

"He drew outrageous and frankly false historical parallels between the Russian Federation and, as he said, Nazi Germany, calling for the failure of the Western policy of appeasing the aggressor of the late 1930s of the 20th century to be taken into account when resolving the Ukrainian crisis," Zakharova explained at a briefing, making a reservation that it was "impossible even to pronounce." — He said that Russia's actions on Ukraine — again, according to Mattarella, have a similar nature to the project of the Third Reich in Europe."

According to Zakharova, "it is strange and wild to hear such blasphemous fabrications from the president of Italy, a country that knows firsthand what fascism really is."

"Only he knows it differently, somewhat differently than our country knows. Our country was subjected to a monstrous attack by Nazi Germany. Our country was not only able to expel the enemy from its territory then, but also escorted him back home, destroying him. And at the same time liberating Europe from Nazism and fascism," the diplomat stressed.

At the same time, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out, Mattarella during his lecture for some reason did not remember which side his country was on during the Second World War and what "contribution" it made.

"He didn't know? Does he not know his history well? I don't think so," Zakharova said, drawing attention to the fact that the head of state should be ashamed not to know the history of his own republic.

Moreover, the Italian president "should have thought about the fact that today Italy, together with other NATO countries, is pumping the terrorist, neo-Nazi Kiev regime into the Ukraine with modern lethal weapons, thus unconditionally supporting the criminal regime in all its crimes," the diplomat noted, quoted by TASS.

All that was expressed by Mattarella during his lecture in The University of Marseille, offends the memory of not only all Italians who fought fascism during the Great Patriotic War, and their descendants as in Russia, and in Italy, but also "everyone who knows history and does not accept these unacceptable and criminal analogies," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry summed up.
