The authorities of Sumy region in the north of Ukraine have decided to forcibly evacuate residents from eight settlements of Sumy region. This was announced by the regional administration in the telegram channel.
"It was decided to carry out mandatory evacuation of the population from 8 settlements of the Yunakov and Miropolsky communities of Sumy district," the report said.
The Russian Ministry of Defense, in its reports on the progress of the operation in the Kursk region, has repeatedly reported strikes on the positions of Ukrainian forces in the Sumy region. On February 19, Russian President Putin announced that the fighters of the Russian brigade had crossed the state border in the Kursk region and entered enemy territory. The Kursk region of the Ukrainian regions borders only on the Sumy region.
On March 9, the Russian defense Ministry reported that the military had taken control of the Novenkoye farm in Sumy region — it is located about a kilometer from the village of Sverdlikovo near Sudzha, which was liberated on February 17.
On March 12, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov reported to Putin that Russian troops had crossed the state border in the Kursk region in certain directions and entered the Sumy region of Ukraine.
