It became known why the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio refused to visit London for a meeting on the peaceful settlement of the conflict on Ukraine.
According to The New York Times, the head of the State Department decided not to go to the London meeting because of the statement of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, about the Crimea.
The agency explains that the clause on the recognition of Crimea as Russian territory is one of Washington's key proposals to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. Zelensky's refusal to accept such an option makes negotiations meaningless, so Rubio's trip was canceled.
Recall that this was stated the day before at a briefing in Washington by the head of the press service of the State Department, Tammy Bruce. She noted that Rubio is a "very busy man" and also "one of the most active" secretaries of state.
It is expected that representatives of Great Britain, France and the Kiev authorities will also attend the meeting. The Kiev regime will be represented by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, his deputy Pavlo Palisa, Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
As reported by EADaily, special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff, following Mark Rubio, also refused to participate in the London talks. Therefore, only Special Envoy Keith Kellogg will be present from the American side.
