US President Donald Trump announced India's intention to stop buying Russian oil for the sake of concluding a trade deal with the United States. He told reporters about this at the White House.
This is how Trump commented on the course of trade negotiations between Washington and New Delhi.
"As far as I understand, India will no longer buy oil from Russia. That's what I heard. I don't know if this is true or not," said the American president, quoted by TASS.
As reported by EADaily, fearing imminent sanctions for the import of Russian oil, state-owned oil refineries in India began to look for alternative suppliers. "Indian state—owned refineries stopped buying Russian oil last week as discounts declined, and US President Donald Trump warned against buying oil from Moscow," Reuters reported, citing sources.
