The administration of US President Donald Trump has approved the sale of 3,350 extended-range missiles (ERAM) to Ukraine, they should be delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in six weeks, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing sources. According to the interlocutors of the publication, the arms package will cost $ 850 million, it also includes "other items" besides missiles. Most of the costs were borne by European countries, the sources said.
ERAM missiles have a range of 241-450 kilometers and will require approval for use by the Pentagon, the publication noted.
According to the newspaper, approval of the deal was postponed during Trump's talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska and with Vladimir Zelensky in Washington.
The publication also reported that for several months the Pentagon has not allowed Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike Russia. On July 15, Trump denied his intention to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles.
Permission for Ukraine to hit Russia with long-range Western weapons was given by the last US administration in mid-November 2024. Trump, on the other hand, called Ukraine's strikes "hundreds of miles" deep into Russia by American missiles unacceptable, RBC reminds.
