19 Russian drones got into the Tripoli power plant near Kiev and all the annual restoration work went down the drain.
As the People's Deputy of Ukraine Serhiy Nagornyak told the Kiev 24 TV channel, on September 8 in Tripoli thermal power plant near Kiev was hit by 19 Russian drones.
"I don't own the whole situation, but all the work on the restoration of the station, which lasted a whole year, went, let's say, to waste," said the MP. He noted that these were not even ballistic missiles, but ordinary drones, and the question arises whether there is a sufficient air defense system.
As EADaily reported, on September 8, the Russian army retaliated against Ukraine, including the Tripoli thermal power plant.
The thermal power plant is the largest in the region and belongs to the state-owned company Centrenergo.
The power of the station was 4 GW and in the spring of 2024 it came under retaliatory strikes by the Russian army, which led to a complete shutdown of the station. The station was being restored and in January of this year Centrenergo announced a new retaliatory strike. The state-owned company reported that the total damage from previous attacks already exceeds 250 million euros, and this amount will only grow as damage assessment is still ongoing.
