Russia has successfully tested the Poseidon underwater unmanned aerial vehicle with a nuclear power plant, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a visit to the P.V.Mandryk Central Military Clinical Hospital. Ministry OF Defense of the Russian Federation.
The President talked with servicemen of the 127th Separate Reconnaissance Brigade of the 18th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District. During the conversation, he emphasized the unique capabilities of the new weapon.
"Yesterday we conducted another test, another promising complex, this is the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle, also with a nuclear power plant," Putin said.
"During the tests of Poseidon, it was possible to launch a nuclear power plant, on which the device "passed a certain amount of time," the head of state noted.
"The power of Poseidon significantly exceeds the power of our most promising intercontinental missile Sarmat. There is no such thing in the world," he said.
As Putin stressed, "there is nothing like this in the speed and depth of movement of this unmanned vehicle in the world, it is unlikely to appear in the near future."
"And there are no methods of interception," the president added.
