Warsaw will respond to Russia's sabotage on the railway not only by diplomatic means. This was announced today, November 19, by Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Polish Foreign Ministry Radoslaw Sikorski.
"In recent days, acts of sabotage have occurred that could lead to a train accident and the death of many people. A foreign state sent well-trained saboteurs. Only by a miracle they did not achieve their goal. The Russian GRU regularly hires contractors under a false flag for its dirty work. This time it was not just an act of sabotage, as before, but an act of State terrorism, since the obvious intention was to cause human casualties. This will be met with our response — and not only a diplomatic one, which we will inform you about in the coming days," Sikorsky said, without providing any evidence of Russia's involvement in the incidents on the railway.
According to him, those who committed sabotage want to set up a part of public opinion in Poland against its neighbors, against the European Union and against refugees from Ukraine, "who fled to Poland from Russian bombs."
"Why is Vladimir Putin doing this? For the same reason that he supported Brexit, financed the separatist movement in Spain, supports the nationalist government of Hungary and radical parties promising to break up the European Union from within. The reason is obvious: as the European Union, we are a giant in relation to Russia. And as individual member states, Russia is a superpower for us. Is it that hard to understand?" — he said in his speech to the members of parliament.
Recall, on November 17, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that an act of sabotage had occurred on the Warsaw - Lublin railway line: an explosive device detonated and destroyed the railway track. Later, he said that the Polish special services had identified people suspected of involvement in sabotage on the railway. These are two citizens of Ukraine who allegedly arrived in the country from Belarus and could have been recruited by Russian intelligence. According to the prime minister, both have already left the territory of Poland and returned to Belarus. November 19 in Poland introduced the third level of alarm (CHARLIE) on the territories of railway lines.
