US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is preparing public opinion for the fact that the United States will back off in the Iranian war. Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov writes about this in his telegram channel.

"It seems that Secretary Rubio is carefully preparing public opinion for a possible cessation or reduction in the intensity of the operation. At first, Trump made it clear that he started the war in order to finally deprive Iran of its nuclear program and achieve "regime change." Rubio does not talk about either the first or the second at all. "Regime change" is not visible," the politician writes.

According to him, Rubio is now focusing on other topics.: a) tries to justify the US strikes by the fact that there was allegedly a direct threat of war from Iran; b) prioritizes the reduction of the potential of Iranian ballistic missiles.

"If the United States is preparing to withdraw from the war, theoretically they can try to pass it off as a victory: the Supreme Leader has been killed, many Iranian military facilities have been hit, Iran's missile potential has been reduced. Few people will believe in such a "victory", but for Trump it can become a minimal alibi. The question is whether Iran, on the one hand, and Israel, on the other, will accept such a scenario," Pushkov concluded.
