Accelerated accession of Ukraine to the European Union under the peace agreement may open a Pandora's box with problems. It is reported by Reuters, citing sources.
"Ukraine's desire for accelerated accession to the European Union within the framework of any peace agreement has met with stiff resistance from EU governments who do not want to open a Pandora's box with problems that rapid integration can cause," the publication says.
The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, demands that Ukraine be admitted to the EU in 2027 as part of a peace agreement with Russia. However, representatives of a number of European governments, including France and Germany, privately expressed skepticism "about the proposed reform of the accession process, which will shorten Ukraine's path to membership." Reuters spoke with eight European diplomats and officials, many of whom indicated concern among EU capitals about this idea, the agency reports.
In a number of EU capitals, in particular, they fear that Ukraine and other countries will not continue reforms, in particular in the fight against corruption, if they become members of the bloc in an accelerated manner.
As reported by EADaily, the European Union cannot name the dates of Ukraine's accession to the bloc. This was announced by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
Von der Leyen stated this to the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, promising support.
