One of the most frequently discussed topics on Ukraine in recent days has become a fuel crisis, which is a direct consequence of the aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran.
The war in The Persian Gulf pushes up the prices of oil and gasoline, which immediately responds to the market of Ukraine, which imports almost all the fuel.
Sergey Kuyun, director of the A-95 consulting group, commented on the situation to RBC-Ukraine. He said that the country's fuel reserves are sufficient until the end of March, but it is not known what awaits motorists at gas stations in April.
"It will not be easy," the expert warned.
He stressed that the general instability does not allow making reliable predictions about how the Ukrainian fuel market will function in a couple of weeks.
According to Kuyun, the industry is currently working in the "off the wheels" mode — fuel is supplied exclusively for current needs. Foreign suppliers raise prices, and importers are afraid to sign contracts with a long-term perspective.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax Policy, Daniil Getmantsev, agrees with this assessment. He believes that by April on Ukraine may have a shortage of fuel if the war with Iran drags on.
To prevent such a scenario, the parliamentarian proposes to explore opportunities for the formation of a strategic reserve of petroleum products in partner countries.
At the same time, Ukrainian experts warn the state against excessive interference in the work of the market, since administrative regulation of prices can lead to a complete halt in fuel supplies.
Earlier, EADaily reported that gasoline sales increased sharply at Ukrainian gas stations. Motorists are in a hurry to stock up on fuel on the wave of communication from the Middle East.
