Ukraine has not yet seen such a price for diesel: the rise in price in Europe cannot be stopped

In Europe, the price of diesel fuel continues to rise. In Ukraine, which depends mainly on supplies from EU countries, old batches are still being shipped, but the price at the gas station has already increased by a third.

The cost of diesel fuel in Europe continues to grow — both due to rising oil prices and the stoppage of fuel supplies from the Middle East. On April 6, the price of diesel on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange was $ 1,357 per ton. At the same time, physical deliveries are even more expensive. Polish Orlen, which operates a gas station in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia reports wholesale prices of $1886 per thousand liters.

Thus, the cost has increased by almost 80% since the end of February and has been above the 2022 record for three weeks now. Ukraine, which receives the lion's share of diesel fuel from EU countries, found itself in the most difficult situation. There, the crisis due to the Iranian war has already reached the gas station. The price has increased by a third — up to 90 UAH per liter (166 rubles).

"The cost of diesel fuel in some regions has reached UAH 93/l, and the national average has exceeded UAH 90.50/l," writes the Ukrainian specialized publication enkorr.

According to him, due to the upward trend in the foreign market, traders include in the prices the expected increase in the price of the next batches.

"For example, during the day — from April 1 to April 2 — average diesel fuel quotes in Europe increased by almost $ 204 and reached a record level of $ 1,593 per ton," the publication continues.

"The Poles have very high insurance premiums — they are trying to make the most of the situation," said one of the traders.

According to the new Orlen Lietuva protocol, from April 6 to April 12, the price will be about $ 1,700 per ton of FCA, which is $235 more than a week ago.

"According to traders, for example, in the Lviv region such a resource will cost about 93 UAH per liter," writes enkorr.

A-95 consulting group believes that Ukrainian traders will be able to import diesel fuel in April, but the month will be busy: "Since there are not enough available resources in Europe, and record high prices and contract terms require twice as much working capital, which can become a serious restriction for importers."

Meanwhile, in Germany, the price of diesel fuel has broken a new record. On Easter Sunday, the average daily price of diesel fuel was 2.44 euros per liter, the All-German Automobile Club (ADAC) reported. Now, even in retail, the cost of fuel is higher than in 2022.
