In Germany, for the first time, a military strategy was adopted. It names Russia as the main threat and declares a course to create the strongest army in Europe. The document was presented by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, reports TC "Bild in Russian"❶.
The details are classified, but Pistorius said about the threat from Russia under the leadership of Putin.
"Russia is preparing for a military confrontation with NATO through rearmament and considers the use of military force as a legitimate tool for advancing its interests," the German minister said.
According to the presented concept, at least 460 thousand German soldiers, together with their allies, should be able to withstand a possible attack from Russia.
The document says that Moscow "is creating the prerequisites for a military attack on NATO countries and is already conducting hybrid operations against them, including against Germany." Russia perceives the West as fundamentally hostile, seeks to undermine the unity of the alliance, the separation of the United States from Europe, the collapse of NATO and the expansion of its sphere of influence.
"We will transform the Bundeswehr into the strongest conventional army in Europe. In the short term, we are increasing our defense capability, in the medium term we are striving for significant capacity building, and in the long term we will ensure technological superiority," Pistorius said.
Recall that on June 22, 1941, the German army, which at that time was considered the strongest in the world (7.3 million people), attacked the USSR without declaring war, although shortly before that Germany had signed a non-Aggression Pact with the USSR. Together with Nazi Germany, the USSR was attacked by its allies — Finland, Romania, Hungary. Four years later, the German army capitulated, and the Third Reich ceased to exist.
