British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will hold a meeting of the Cobra emergency government committee on April 28. This is reported by the British media.
Starmer announced his decision on April 27, speaking to members of the USDAW trade union, which unites workers in the areas of retail, warehouse logistics, distribution and service.
"Tomorrow I will hold a Cobra meeting on the consequences [of the war in Iran], with the participation of representatives of the Bank of England, so that you can be sure that we will support workers in this crisis," he said.
According to him, the economic consequences of the war in Iran "may be felt for some time." Starmer cited as an example the increase in prices for motor fuel at a record pace "at every gas station in the country." At the same time, he stressed that "he will never drag the country into a war that is not in our interests."
Recall that after the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East, Western countries faced serious problems in the energy sector. The situation is aggravated by their earlier decision to abandon oil and gas from Russia.
