Moscow is not satisfied with everything in the work of the UN, it is necessary to increase its effectiveness, including at the expense of the countries of the Global South and East. This was announced today, September 1, by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting in the SCO Plus format in Bishkek.

"Probably, not everything, not always in the work of the UN, we like, we are satisfied. At the same time, I must note that in fact, to be honest, this has always been the case, almost from the moment of its creation," the head of state said. — It is important to make efforts to increase the efficiency of its activities, expand the representation of its bodies, including in The Security Council at the expense of the countries of the Global South and East. In general, to adapt to the changing realities that have emerged in global politics and economics is a fundamental change."

At the same time, the UN Charter should remain a key source of international law.

"The World Organization should undoubtedly retain the functions of the main mechanism for coordinating interests: it was created from the very beginning — as a mechanism for coordinating interests," Putin said.
