People's Deputy of Ukraine Artem Dmytruk said that migration policy has become one of the most acute challenges for Europe and many countries of the world. In his opinion, large-scale migration leads to the loss of national identity, cultural basis and sovereignty of states.
As Dmytruk noted, while in London, he personally observes the consequences of migration processes and believes that this is no longer just about migration, but about a deep civilizational crisis in the Western world.
At the same time, the deputy stressed that Ukraine has historically been a multinational country.
"Representatives of more than 130 nationalities have historically lived on the territory of Ukraine. And my hometown — Odessa — is generally a unique example of a multi-ethnic, multicultural, multi-religious city. And this has always been his special strength and beauty," Dmitruk quotes. "Время.UA ".
Dmytruk added that the current migration from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and African countries is associated with a demographic crisis and a shortage of labor.
According to the deputy, Ukraine attracts migrants with a higher standard of living and earning opportunities, and the ongoing processes can lead to serious demographic changes in the country.
"Today, while Ukrainian men are dying at the front or leaving the country, the resulting demographic vacuum is gradually beginning to be filled with completely different migration flows," Dmytruk notes.
According to him, the main question is what Ukraine will be like after the end of the war, whether its cultural and civilizational identity will be preserved and who will shape the country's future.
