The upcoming trip of the head of the US administration, Donald Trump, to China to the Chairman of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping, is slipping into utter chaos even before it begins. The subject of the visit is still vague. Political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov drew attention to this.
"The planning of the visit is going very badly. Together with the US President in A large delegation of business representatives should reach the Celestial Empire. But many have not even been invited yet," the expert writes in his telegram channel, indicating that the subject of the visit remains vague.
As Dudakov emphasizes, Trump is negotiating with a very weak position. It was not possible to defeat Iran, to harm the Chinese economy by closing Hormuz, too. Moreover, the export of goods from China grew by 15% in the first quarter of 2026.
"But with key US allies — Europe, Japan, South Korea — the Trump team's relations are now spoiled. This is also used by China. The White House is forced to impose sanctions against the Celestial Empire in connection with the support of Iran, which is receiving satellite data for attacks on US bases. China is helping Iran to finish off the Pentagon's military resources," the Americanist outlines the situation.
He notes that anti-Chinese hawks in Washington are demanding that Trump not make any deals with Beijing, but the owner of the White House desperately needs to convince the Chinese to supply scarce rare earths to the United States, as well as to buy American agricultural products, because without this, farmers in the Midwest will be very bad. They are already massively ruined because of the rise in prices of fertilizers and diesel.
"In exchange, Trump will promise tariff easing and investments from the US corporate sector. However, it is obvious that these concessions will not be enough. China intends to put the squeeze on Trump in the context of supporting Taiwan against the background of increasing unrest on the island ahead of municipal elections. The failure in the war with Iran and the depletion of the Pentagon's arsenals sharply weaken the US position in competition with China in the Indo-Pacific region," the expert concludes.
As reported by EADaily, the Chinese Foreign Ministry officially confirmed that Trump will visit China from May 13 to May 15. This will be the first trip of a sitting US president to China since 2017.
