Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will pay Armenian farmers for all fruits and vegetables that they will not be able to supply to the Russia because of the restrictions imposed. The main thing is to keep a pro—Western course. He announced this at a meeting with voters.
"Today we are at the stage of strategic choice. We are solving the issue of our state, the republic and the acquisition of a new quality state. And I say: pepper will spoil — I will pay for this pepper, the government will pay. But as a result of all this, the production of pepper in Armenia and exports will grow," Pashinyan said.
He also promised that when "unfair obstacles to exports" arise, support and subsidy programs will be implemented.
"But there is a silver lining. We are talking about new sales markets, and already today several of our business delegations have gone abroad. We are grateful to our international partners for their quick response, and in the near future we already have concrete proposals for the purchase of roses, fruits and vegetables," Pashinyan assured.
At the same time, he claims that the volume of products in general is not so large and one normal European supermarket chain can cope with it.
As EADaily reported, since May 30, the Rosselkhoznadzor has restricted the import of fruit and vegetable products from Armenia in order to ensure phytosanitary well-being. Since May 22, the import of flowers has been restricted. Since June 2, the import of stone fruits — cherries, cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines — and grapes from Armenia has been restricted. Prior to that, it became known that according to the results of the inspection, deliveries to Only two Armenian enterprises are allowed to sell live fish and fish products.
