At the moment, it is impossible to speed up the border crossing in Narva, Estonian Interior Minister Igor Taro said.
The minister responded to the claims of parliamentarians about huge queues at the border, he linked them to "more intensive checks" against the background of the conflict at the Ukraine.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from the beginning of the year to mid-May, more than 212 thousand people from 107 countries crossed the border in Narva towards Russia.
Most of them were citizens and non-citizens of Estonia. Also, about 16 thousand Finns and 14 thousand Frenchmen visited Russia through Narva.
