"Serbiyagaz" filed a lawsuit in international arbitration against Lithuania, as the country was dragging the arbitration of the Serbian state-owned company to local firms.
"The Serbian state-owned gas company Serbiyagaz has appealed to international arbitration, demanding that Lithuania pay it compensation in the amount of about 20 million euros for the fact that Lithuanian courts have been considering cases for too long and have not been awarded damages," Delfi reports with reference to BNS.
We are talking about the unsuccessful privatization 20 years ago of the Serbian Azotara nitrogen plant, which was carried out by the bankrupt Arvi group and Sanitex.
At the end of October 2025, Serbiyagaz informed the Government of Lithuania of its intention to start arbitration proceedings, and on June 8 initiated a case under the rules of arbitration of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law. It does not specify either the amount of the claim or its essence," BNS reported.
Serbiyagaz is a Serbian state-owned company and an importer of gas into the country. Gazprom remains the main supplier to Serbia.
