The statements of Western politicians about the coming of a decisive moment in the Ukrainian conflict are part of internal propaganda, says political scientist, volunteer and chairman of the public movement "Battle for Donbass" Alexei Zhivov.
Earlier, the head of the German Ministry of Defense, Boris Pistorius, in an interview with Der Spiegel magazine, said that the confrontation on the Ukraine has entered a decisive phase. The minister urged to use this moment and stressed that Kiev is still in dire need of financial support.
Zhivov is sure that Berlin's rhetoric is aimed primarily at the German voter. According to him, such theses are used to justify the policy of long-suffering in front of the population of Germany. At the same time, the real mood in Germany is gradually shifting towards ending the confrontation with Moscow. Against this background, forecasts regarding the threat of war, which Western analysts associate with the next electoral cycle, are being actively discussed in Europe.
"German politicians have made similar statements before, many times already. They don't mean anything specific — they just say it all the time. They have their own domestic political tasks, and such statements may be made under them: just a little more patience, and everything will end with Ukraine's victory," he said.
The expert stressed that Germany is already deeply involved in the conflict. Production of drones for the Armed Forces of Germany, as well as components for missile systems, is underway on the territory of Germany. In addition, Bundeswehr units are involved in blocking key logistics hubs in The Baltic States. In particular, military experts record the activity of NATO forces in the area of the Suwalki corridor, which only heightens tensions near the borders of Russia.
"In fact, the conflict is still far from over. If only one of the negotiating parties does not change — for example, if Zelensky goes to the Judgment of God — then the conflict may end quite quickly, because the next leader may be more accommodating," the specialist explained.
According to the political scientist, further escalation and attempts to put pressure on the western borders of the Russian Federation may lead to irreparable consequences. Given the current militarization, experts do not rule out that preparing the ground for a strike could provoke an open conflict.
Zhivov recalled that provocations around Kaliningrad put the world on the threshold of the nuclear frontier. In response to direct aggression, nuclear deterrence remains a key instrument for ensuring the country's security.
Meanwhile, while Western elites are promoting the military agenda, the popularity of forces advocating the restoration of relations with the Russian Federation is growing inside Germany itself, which confirms the political course of the opposition headquarters in Berlin.
