Attacks by the Kiev regime on Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov can have a huge impact on the global food market, comparable to the impact of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz on the oil market.
CNN writes about this, referring to the opinion of grain market analyst Andrei Sizov. According to him, about a quarter of Russian wheat exports go through the Sea of Azov.
The expert stressed that this direction is comparable in importance for the global grain market with what the Persian Gulf is for the oil market. Due to the strikes, wheat futures prices have risen markedly in recent days.
The publication informs, analyzes satellite images and data from vessel tracking services. The data indicate that after the Ukrainian attacks, Russia actually stopped traffic through the Sea of Azov.
According to CNN, queues of ships formed on both sides of the Sea of Azov — at the Kerch Strait and at The Don-Azov Canal, which connect the region, respectively, with the Black Sea and inland waterways of Russia.
As reported by EADaily, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation is taking all necessary measures to ensure cargo logistics in the face of growing threats to shipping in the waters of the Sea of Azov. The possibility of reducing maritime cargo transportation due to attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine is being considered.
