People's Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Butman intends to offer the singer, People's Artist of Russia Larisa Dolina to head the vocal department at the first jazz university. He said this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"Larisa Dolina is a very powerful teacher in this regard. If we manage to open a jazz academy, then we will definitely offer Larisa Alexandrovna to head the vocal department: she has incredible experience, understanding and exactingness," Butman believes.
Also, the musician does not exclude the possibility of including the Dolina Music Academy in the future university, but on condition that the artist herself wants it.
"This is possible if Larisa Alexandrovna wants to. But she can leave her academy as an independent educational institution and combine work in two universities," Butman concluded.
Dolinoy Music Academy was launched in pilot mode at the end of 2021, ten vocalists became the first students. In May 2022, the Valley announced the opening of its own academy. Future artists are trained in pop and jazz profile.
As EADaily reported, the first jazz university in Russia, which will train high-class artists and music teachers, may appear in Moscow or St. Petersburg, Butman said earlier.
Currently, a large-scale study of the project is underway, the preparation of methodological manuals, constructive explanations of why such a university is necessary, what its structure and specifics of teaching should be. In addition, it is necessary to assess the potential number of applicants to such a university, as well as the principles of admission — on a budgetary or commercial basis.
