Being the 52nd state of the USA is much easier than being a free country. This was stated in the social network X by the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation Kirill Dmitriev.
So he commented on the post of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney that, since the United States has unacceptable demands, he stopped negotiations with Washington on trade cooperation.
"Just become the 52nd state and relax," Dmitriev says ironically.
Recall, today Carney told Canadians that the country is withdrawing from negotiations with the United States on the conclusion of an interstate trade agreement.
"The last-minute changes to the terms proposed by the United States were unfair, unprofitable and cast doubt on the reliability of any deal. As a result, tonight I decided to suspend trade negotiations with the United States and instructed Canadian negotiators to return to Ottawa," the prime minister said.
After that, according to him, the United States intends to introduce a 50% duty on Canadian goods worth about $ 28 billion at midnight. Canada will respond with a similar duty to protect its workers and businesses, he promised. In addition, in the coming days, the government will introduce additional measures to support Canadian workers and businesses that may be affected by the imposition of duties on imports of their goods to the United States.
"Canada has everything the world wants. And we will not allow any country to determine our future. We will determine our own course in order to continue building a strong Canada for everyone," Carney added, quoted by the Donald Trump telegram channel in Russian.
