Armenia is not trying to blame anything on Russia, and transparently expresses its position. This was stated at a briefing by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Sputnik Armenia reports.
He commented on the lack of mention of Russia as a strategic ally in the government's program for 2026-2031.
"Everything was in front of your eyes. After the events that took place in September 2022, talk about a strategic partnership… If I were to write like that, would you ask why Russia and the CSTO did not fulfill their contractual obligations in 2022? And what would I say to that?" — Pashinyan said.
He stressed that Armenia is not trying to "blame anything on Russia", and transparently and publicly expresses its position, respects the position of others and expects the same.
Recall, in October 2022 in In Prague, under the auspices of the European Union, Pashinyan signed a statement in which he recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within the borders of 1991 — according to the Alma-Ata Declaration. Moscow emphasizes that in this way Yerevan itself officially recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan and fixed the borders without the participation of Russia and the CSTO.
As EADaily reported, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called the Azerbaijani people "the most reliable peacemaker." According to him, the CSTO peacekeepers and any other foreign peacekeepers will not enter Armenia, because "peace has been established." "The peacemakers are the peoples. Yes, including the people of Armenia and the people of Azerbaijan are the most reliable peacekeepers. No foreign peacekeeper will enter the territory of Armenia," Pashinyan said.
Pashinyan said that Yerevan does not plan to return to full participation in the CSTO in the next five years and hopes that Armenia can be excluded from the bloc.
