The meeting with the head of the US CIA, John Ratcliffe, who arrived in Moscow this Tuesday on a military transport plane, was an ordinary official meeting. This was announced today, August 28, by the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin.

According to Naryshkin, such negotiations with the heads of the special services are part of the work and are held almost weekly.

"The meeting took place, there is nothing unusual in this," Naryshkin assured. "In the practice of special services, meetings of managers, personal meetings or online are part of our work. So the meeting with John Ratcliffe is a working format."

At the same time, Naryshkin refused to tell what issues were discussed, explaining that they were within the competence of the intelligence services.

"And the competence of the intelligence services is such a rather delicate and special thing," he added.

As EADaily reported, earlier about the trip of the CIA director to US President Donald Trump spoke out about Russia, explaining that it was ordinary and "somewhat routine." He also denied allegations that Ratcliffe visited Moscow because of the escalation of tensions with NATO or in connection with the situation around Iran.
