Weapons specialist Konstantin Lazarev, in an interview with TASS, appreciated the design features of the updated AK-12 Kalashnikov assault rifle, introduced in 2023. According to the expert, the most ambiguous element of the novelty was the diopter sight, which, although it has a number of advantages, requires the shooter to have specific handling skills.
The expert explained that this device really helps to speed up the targeting process, but only if the distance to the eye is strictly observed and the correct technique of "putting" the weapon into the shoulder. Lazarev also stressed that it is possible to master this optics in a short time, but without explaining the nuances of aiming, it will be difficult for fighters to realize its potential.
The new modification of the sight provides three modes of operation. This is a setting for direct fire, firing at six-hundred-meter boundaries, as well as a special mode designed for conditions of insufficient visibility.
