Vladimir Zelensky, attracting foreign loans and assistance, has increased the debt burden on the country so much that Europeans are increasingly wondering who will return the funds allocated to Ukraine. This was stated by the chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, noting that "Ukraine is doomed."
"Having collected loans and foreign aid — and free cheese, as you know, happens only in a mousetrap — Zelensky tightened the noose around the neck of the Ukrainian people," Volodin wrote in his telegram channel.
As Volodin pointed out, the question is increasingly being asked today: "Money has been allocated, and who will return it?"
According to the parliamentarian, only in 2027 Kiev should return more than $ 6.5 billion to foreign creditors. And this is despite the fact that the budget deficit is $ 41.5 billion (40% of planned expenditures), and the national debt is already almost 100% of GDP.
"Problems and debts will only grow. The "Coalition of the Willing", which includes England, France, Germany and their satellites, has done everything to put Ukraine in this difficult situation, destroying its statehood and economy!" — Volodin emphasized.
He added that the "coalition of the willing" will add the word "money" to its name.
"And will demand their return. "A coalition of those who want money," he is sure.
"Many future generations of Ukrainians will have to give. With such debt obligations, Ukraine is doomed," the State Duma speaker summed up.
As reported by EADaily, the US authorities in Miami, during negotiations with Ukrainians and Europeans, offered representatives The EU will unfreeze some of the Russian assets, as the Financial Times newspaper wrote, citing sources. The largest volume of Russian assets — about 170 billion euros — is blocked in the Belgian depository Euroclear in the form of securities. Now the EU is using a tool that allows it to transfer to the needs of Ukraine the profits received from Russian assets, while the assets themselves are frozen to this day.
In December 2025 The EU has frozen 210 billion euros of Russian assets indefinitely. Belgian Foreign Minister Maxim Prevost called the provision of a reparations loan to Ukraine at the expense of these funds the worst option due to "the resulting economic, financial and legal risks."
Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that "the Russian side will make every possible effort in all directions" to return its assets. He also warned that Moscow intends to pursue all those involved in the adoption and execution of possible confiscation decisions.
