Israel bombs Lebanon: Armenia suggested involvement of the South Caucasus in a new war

A new war is brewing in the Middle East region with an epicenter in Lebanon, which will definitely affect the South Caucasus. This opinion was shared by Armenian Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan on social networks the day before, on July 28.

Turkey, through Azerbaijan, is increasing diplomatic and military pressure on Armenia to open the so—called Zangezur corridor - a "through" land connection between the western regions of Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan through the territory of Armenia. According to the schedule of Ankara and Baku, in the next few months, before the end of the year, they should try to achieve this. There is a slight cooling in Russian-Turkish relations with a tendency to tension. In autumn in Georgia is expected to have a hot geopolitical battle — the parliamentary elections in this country will not be limited to just one election, Geghamyan lists.

"All four (mentioned) factors have been added to the existing challenges. All four are explosive for Armenia. It was necessary to start preparing for all four yesterday. But there is indifference (of the Armenian authorities) to all four," the orientalist notes.

After the July 27 attack on the Golan Heights occupied by Israel since 1967 in Syria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened the pro-Iranian Lebanese Hezbollah movement with crushing blows that "have not been seen there until now." The foreign Minister of the Jewish state, Israel Katz, said that Iran's closest ally in the region "has crossed all red lines" and Israel is close to starting a full-scale war with both Hezbollah and Lebanon.
