The program of flights of Russian airlines to Cuba may be changed due to a shortage of aviation kerosene at Liberty Island airports.
"The program of flights of Russian airlines between Russia and Cuba can be adjusted. Possible changes are related to two NOTAMs (notices. — Ed.), which were issued by the Cuban aviation authorities. The notices say about the shortage of jet fuel for all carriers without exception at the airports of Havana and Varadero during the week: from 08.01 Moscow time on December 1 to 08.00 Moscow time on December 8," the Rosaviatsia telegram channel reports.
They noted that flights to Cuban airports from Moscow are operated by Rossiya and Nordwind airlines.
"The Russian Ministry of Transport and our carriers are consulting with the Cuban side to minimize the impact of kerosene shortage on flights of Russian airlines," the agency reports.
Earlier, on November 30, it became known that Nordwind Airlines flight from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Varadero is delayed. The reason was the shortage of jet fuel at the Cuban airport.
Later, the airline reported, Interfax reports, that it had received confirmation of refueling of its aircraft at Varadero Airport in Cuba, and therefore its Saturday flight from Sheremetyevo would still be completed — with a delay of 9 hours.
"Passengers of delayed flights are provided with services in accordance with FAP-82. The situation on subsequent flights to/from Cuba is being resolved. The information will be updated," the airline said.
